What It Is That We Do:

A Notary Public serves as an impartial witness in taking acknowledgments, administering oaths and affirmations, and performing other acts authorized by law. They will also verify signatures on important documents like contracts, deeds, affidavits, and powers-of-attorney. Notarization is the act of witnessing by a Notary Public in accordance with specifications of state law. A Notary Public has a responsibility to know the laws and the recommendations of the Governor's Office and the Secretary of State affecting the office of Notary Public (American Society of Notaries).

Signing Agents are Notaries that are willing to become mobile. These are Notaries who are willing to travel to people's homes or businesses to witness signings of documents and willing to be available during evenings or weekends. The Notary is acting as an independent contractor who is hired by a closing agent or lender to make sure loan documents are properly executed by the borrower, that signatures are notarized as needed, and properly executed forms are returned to the lender in a timely manner (Huckleberry Notary Bonding, Inc., "Signing Agent Certification Course").
